To Rēzekne after new knowledge

On 28 to 30 November 2018, the joint institution of the local authorities “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone administration”, within the framework of the project LLI-386 “Transform”, organised a three-day training course on the issues related to brownfield development and planning.
Alongside the restoration of specific brownfield sites in four municipalities and the development of new construction projects and development concepts for selected brownfields, the project also aims to strengthen the knowledge of specialists. During the training, the ecological, social and financial aspects of brownfield restoration were discussed, as well as the attraction of investments and development scenarios, the role of creating a story of the location and marketing. Participants learnt theoretical knowledge through training, teamwork and creative assignments. The participants had the opportunity to hear the experience of Ingūna Elere (design bureau H2E), Rolando Huapaija-Delgado (Latvian Investment Development Agency), Reinis Āzis (export and investment consultant), Lauma Žubule (SIA “Lūzumpunkts komanda”), Daiga Zigmunda and Natālija Ņitavska (Latvian Agricultural University Department of Landscape Architecture and Planning), as well as to visit a company in the Rēzekne county SIA “VLAKON”.
The project will include three training cycles; one in Rēzekne, and the others are planned in Panevezys and Visaginas in Lithuania. Representatives of the project municipalities from Panevezys, Visaginas, Rēzekne, Daugavpils, Krāslava and Rēzekne county participated in the training.

The total amount of funding allocated by the European regional development Fund is 442 296,58 euros.
