Lithuanians get to know brownfields of four municipalities of Latvia in four days
With a four-day study visit, municipal experts from “Trans-form“ partner municipalities from Panevezys and Visaginas (Lithuania) visited Latvia to learn about the experience of local authorities in planning brownfield development, plans and work already performed in this area. During the visit from 19 March to 22 March 2019, Lithuanian colleagues visited Daugavpils City Municipality, Krāslava and Rēzekne counties and Rēzekne Special Economic Zone.
On 21 March, representatives of Rēzekne SEZ and Rēzekne Municipality shared their experience in brownfield restoration. Rēzekne SEZ administration presented the achievements of Rēzekne SEZ in the territory restoration to the guests of Lithuanian municipalities, and together with them visited objects such as the new building of the production complex on Viļakas iela 1, renovated office and warehouse building at Atbrīvošanas aleja 155A, k-1, Komunālā iela 13 and 11C, and the restored road section Lejas Ančupāni- Lejas Ančupāni in Rēzekne district. The delegation also visited the largest enterprise in terms of number of employees and production volume of Rēzekne SEZ - “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA (woodworking).
The organising of the study visit was highly appreciated by the Lithuanian colleagues, the chosen projects were found to be interesting and new ideas for further cooperation between municipalities were found.
The total amount of funding allocated by the European regional development Fund is 442 296,58 euros.
