On March 21, representatives of Panevėžys and Visaginas municipalities of Lithuania visited Rēzekne within the project LLI-386 “Trans-Form” to acquire experience of Rezekne Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in brownfield revitalization.

On March 19 and 20, representatives of Lithuanian municipalities visited the cities of Daugavpils and Krāslava, but on 21 March they arrived in Rēzekne, where they met with representatives of Rēzekne SEZ and Rēzekne City Council, who shared their experience in revitalization of degraded territories.

Rēzekne SEZ presented their achievements to the territory planners from Lithuanian municipalities and visited such objects as the new production building in Viļakas street 1, the renovated office and warehouse building at Atbrīvošanas aleja 155A, k-1, Komunālā Street 13 and 11C, as well as the rebuilt road Lejas Ančupāni- Lejas Ančupāni in Rēzekne Municipality.

Rēzekne SEZ Authority will develop the concept of development of the territory in Komunālā Street within the framework of the “Trans-form” project, reflecting the possible land use and functionality of the site to organize and promote entrepreneurship.

Potential investors currently are offered a land plot in Komunālā Street, Rēzekne (with total area of 8.63 ha) with access to the access road and engineering communications (connection to water pipe, municipal sewerage, gas pipeline, etc.). Rēzekne City Council has implemented projects of reconstruction of the road in Komunālā Street in two stages, and the reconstruction of the remaining third road section will be started soon.

The delegation also visited “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA, which is the largest company in Rēzekne SEZ according to the number of employees and production volume.

The total amount of funding allocated by the European regional development Fund is 442 296.58 euros. In turn, the total cost of the project is 520 348.94 euros. The amount of funding under the project for the Rēzekne municipality is 44 704.00 euros, of which equity financing of the European regional development Fund 37 998.40, and equity financing of the state budget in the Rezekne SEZ is, respectively, 3 788.02 and 6705.60 euros.
