In the previous year turnover of Rēzekne SEZ enterprises has reached 99.4 million euros and 899 employees were employed in zone enterprises. 2017 has been successful year for Rēzekne SEZ enterprises, in the largest part of enterprises turnover, employment, export and profit indicators were increased.
Uniting free zones from all over the world, in the end of April and beginning of May of this year, World Free Zones Organization organized Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE 2018), which was devoted to the topic “Free Zones 10X – Path to Prosperity”. Promoting international cooperation, Rēzekne SEZ Authority also participated in the events of AICE 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Rēzekne City Council has annRēzekne City Council has announced an auction for lease right for production facility in the territory of Rēzekne SEZ on Viļakas Street 1, Rēzekne. Production premises with total area 6784 square metres, as well as access roads and parking lots related to buildings will be available for lease.
On April 16, 2018 Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Latvia H.E. Mrs Hanan Al Aleeli arrived to Rēzekne in official visit. In scope of the visit meeting with representatives of Rēzekne SEZ as well as visits to enterprises “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA were organized.
With an aim to get acquainted with the social and economic situation in the regions of Latvia, this March Counsellor of the Embassy of Canada in Latvia Jude Pecora visited Rēzekne and Rēzekne Municipality in two-day visit. In scope of the visit Mr. Jude Pecora had meetings with the representatives of municipalities and Rēzekne SEZ, as well as visited cultural objects and educational institutions.
On March 20 and 21, 2018 Investment Management Exhibition took place in Frankfurt (Germany). Rēzekne SEZ Authority together with Rēzekne City Council participated in the event, presenting investment objects and possibilities for potential investors offered by Rēzekne SEZ.
On March 19, 2018 in the event “Day of Entrepreneurs of Rēzekne Municipality” awards were granted to the winners of the competition “Rēzekne Municipality Enterprise 2017”. In the competition organized by Rēzekne Municipality Council Rēzekne SEZ enterprise SIA “LEAX Rēzekne” RSEZ received award in the category “The Best Employer”.
With an aim to promote cooperation between free zones and ensure representation on the European level, meeting of the heads of Europe’s free zones took place in Barcelona on March 9, 2018, in which possibility to establish European Association of Free Trade Zones was discussed.
Rēzekne City has received the 6th place in the category FDI Strategy among micro cities in the European Cities of the Future 2018/19 ranking, due to planned Rēzekne City Council infrastructure development projects in the territory of Rēzekne SEZ and achievements and advantages of Rēzekne SEZ.
