For the seventh year in a row, “Rēzeknes Dzirnavnieks” RSEZ AS has won the 1st place in the competition organised by Rēzekne Special Economic Zone “Company of the Year” in the category of small enterprises. The company has doubled its turnover, reaching 4.1 million euros. The company has established stable cooperation with 1,200 conventional grain growers and 260 organic farms from all over Latgale, which has allowed to achieve a grain turnover of 153 thousand tons this year.

For the 9th year, Rezekne SEZ Authority has awarded the winners of the Rēzekne SEZ Enterprise of the Year Award competition. In compliance with all the restrictions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies were awarded individually.

Rezekne SEZ Authority has been accepted as a member of Rezekne Association of Entrepreneurs by the decision of the Rezekne Entrepreneurs Association Board on October 13.

Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies have made long-term investments in the amount of 19.2 million euros in 2019. The total amount of long-term investments accumulated by commercial companies of Rezekne SEZ has reached 171.1 million euros. Moreover, the total turnover has increased by 4.1 million euros and 43 new work places have been created, according to the summary of Rezekne SEZ commercial companies performance indicators.

Assembled online with the Chairman and members of the Board of the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), 37 entities signed on recently as volunteer contact points in their respective countries to help the World FZO spread knowledge of free zone best practices and World FZO solutions farther across the globe.

On July 23 of this year in an online ceremony the CEO of Rēzekne SEZ Authority Sandra Ežmale signed an agreement with the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO) on the representation of the organization's national contact point in Latvia.

On July 3 of this year, the Minister of Economics of the Republic of Latvia Jānis Vitenbergs visited Rēzekne with a delegation consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Economics and Member of the Saeima Janīna Kursīte. During the visit, the delegation visited two Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies SIA “LEAX Rēzekne” RSEZ and SIA “MIDIS” RSEZ, as well as met with representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority, Rēzekne SEZ commercial companies and Rēzekne City Council.

On May 14, 2020, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia adopted amendments to the Law “On Application of Taxes in Special Economic Zones and Freeport’s”. Changes in the law will provide additional support for Rezekne Special Economic Zone and Latgale Special Economic Zone companies.
