Upon invitation of Administration of Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”, on October 12 – 13 representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority participated in event “Business Days in Gomel” organized by Belarus Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”. Within the framework of the event representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority had an opportunity to visit the exhibition in order to get introduced to business environment in Gomel and products produced in the region, as well as to participate in the Business forum, in order to establish new contacts and promote further cooperation.
Business forum, which took place within the scope of event “Business Days in Gomel”, gathered more than 50 foreign participants from Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Ukraine and other countries. The main aim of the business forum was to discuss topical questions related to promotion of economic growth and international cooperation.
In panel discussion of Business forum “Free Economic Zones: From Present to Future” Chief Executive Officer of Rēzekne SEZ Sandra Ežmale provided participants of the discussion with insight into functioning and achievements of Rēzekne SEZ as well as into general information about investment environment in Latvia and functioning of special economic zones. Furthermore, while popularizing the image of Rēzekne SEZ on international level, during the event several interviews were given to local media, expressing the opinion of Rēzekne SEZ on economic developments in the region and on the event itself.
With an aim to get acquainted with business environment in Gomel, representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority also visited three enterprises of Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”: producer of furniture and its components “Delkom40”, producer of plastic packaging “Freshpack Solutions” and producer of steel tubes “Dangi Profile Company”. While visiting the enterprises, Rēzekne SEZ representatives had an opportunity not only to receive information about production processes taking place in the enterprise, but also to see how revitalization and reconstruction of industrial territories is taking place in the neighbouring country.
Continuing the cooperation, which had started several years ago, during the visit Rēzekne SEZ representatives had a meeting with the representatives of Administration of Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”, in order to exchange experience in the field of functioning of free and special economic zones. During the discussion representatives of administration expressed their willingness to establish closer cooperation with Rēzekne SEZ Authority and Latvia within the near future.
