Rezekne and the region have a large number of university and vocational school graduates in engineering, economics and other fields.
More than 85% of the population speaks Russian and about 70% of the population under the age of 40 speak English. Rezekne Special Economic Zone) is located in the city of Rēzekne, where specialties are acquired by young people from all over Eastern Latvia. Education is provided by such schools as Rēzeknes Tehnoloģiju akadēmija (Rezekne Academy of Technologies), State Border Guard College, branches of five Latvian higher education institutions and Rezekne Technical College in such programs as

70% of Rēzekne Academy of Technology graduates remain in the region to workRezekne and its surrounding region have a population of 120,000, of which approximately 4,800 (according to the data of the State Employment Agency for Rezekne city, county and Vilani county) are job seekers of economically active age.
