Agreement reached on the possibility of extending support to Rēzekne SEZ enterprises

On January 16, 2018 a meeting between the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Mr Kaspars Gerhards and representatives of Entrepreneurship Commission and Authority of Rēzekne SEZ. Following the meeting the Minister took a decision to initiate extension of the support available in Rēzekne SEZ.

The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the possibility to extend the support available for Rēzekne SEZ enterprises for promotion of employment. In order to express the opinion of Rēzekne SEZ enterprises, participants of the meeting were representatives of Entrepreneurship Commission - Chairperson of the Commission and Site Manager of SIA “LEAX Rēzekne” RSEZ Mr Gints Jačuks, Deputy Chairperson of the Commission and Chairperson of the Board of “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA Ms Zinaīda Lovnika -, as well as the CEO of Rēzekne SEZ Ms Sandra Ežmale.

Rēzekne SEZ Authority and entrepreneurs of Rēzekne SEZ highly value the support of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Mr Kaspars Gerhards for preparation of the amendments in the regulation for inclusion of the aforementioned proposal both in Latgale SEZ and Rēzekne SEZ. As recognized by the Chairperson the Commission Mr Gints Jačuks after the meeting: “Very open attitude of the Ministry and the willingness to hear out entrepreneurs’ proposals and necessities delights us”.

According to the information published by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development “Considering regional differences in Latvia, special attention is devoted to development of Latgale region – work is being continued on elaboration of Action Plan for the Development of Latgale Region in 2018-2021. One of the planned incentives is extension of support possibilities in Latgale and Rēzekne SEZ, creating additional support mechanisms for creation of new work places.”
