On December 7, 2017 winner of competition “Export and Innovation Awards 2017” organized by LIAA and the Ministry of Economics were announced in a solemn ceremony in the Castle of Riga. In the ceremony award of best medium/large exporter was granted to Rēzekne SEZ enterprise.
Enterprise “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA received the 1st place in the category “Best Medium/Large Exporter”. Pellet plant “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA exports 100% of its products. The main export market of the company is Germany. Due to the investments made in the enterprise, it currently is the largest producer of industrial pellets in Baltic States in one plant.
Altogether 170 applications were submitted for the participation in the competition “Export and Innovation Awards 2017”, from which 30 enterprises were selected for further participation in the second round of evaluation. In scope of the second round of the competition “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA was visited by the jury in the beginning of November. The jury was composed by members of State Chancery, Ministry of Economics, Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, Bank of Latvia, Employers Confederation of Latvia, Latvian Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Luminor Bank, University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Institute of Agro Resources and Economics, ALTUM, newspaper the Dienas Bizness, Technological Centre of Latvia, Latvian Institute, Latvian Designer Union and Union of Young Scientists of Latvia.
The aim of the competition is to acknowledge and honour entrepreneurs of Latvia, which have achieved good results creating new and exportable products, as well as ensuring local market with high quality goods. In the solemn award ceremony enterprises were congratulated by the patron of the competition the President of Latvia Raimons Vējonis, Minister of Economics Arvils Ašerādens, Director of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Andris Ozols.
