Seminar for Rezekne SEZ enterprises on tax reform and amendments in data protection regulation has taken place
On November 23rd, 2017 informative seminar for Rēzekne SEz enterprises was organized. Main topics of the seminar were practical aspects of tax reform of 2018 and amendments in data protection regulation. Seminar was organized in cooperation with enterprises “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA, finance and legal consulting company “Deloitte Latvia” and Training Centre “BUTS”.
With the support of Training Centre “BUTS” the first part of the seminar was devoted to the topic of data protection, in which data protection specialist Artūrs Miezītis introduced enterprises to the amendments that will come into force in Spring 2018. Amendments are related to implementation of the European Parliament and European Council Regulation of April 27, 2016 (EU) 2016/679 “On the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data”. Starting from May 25th, 2018 regulation will apply to many processors of personal data including enterprises and institutions, which will have to perform several additional actions for processing of personal data.
Meanwhile with the support of enterprises “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA the second part of the seminar concentrated on the upcoming tax reform in Latvia. Consultations for Rēzekne SEZ enterprises on tax reform, which will come into force on January 1st, 2018 were provided by Aija Kļavinska Senior Manager of Tax Department of Latvia’s leading finance and legal Consulting company “Deloitte Latvia”. Questions on corporate income tax calculation and declaration as well as application of personal income tax and calculation of salary taxes were mainly discussed during the event. Additionally answers to questions of entrepreneurs in relation to tax reform and other matters, for example currency risks, were provided.
Participants of the seminar were representatives of twelve Rēzekne SEZ enterprises, as well as representatives of local municipalities and entrepreneurship institutions.
